Springsteen, Stewart join 'Heroes' benefit
The NY Comedy Festival has lined up comedians and performers from Jon Stewart to Bruce Springsteen for its annual charity benefit, "Stand Up for Heroes," benefitting the Bob Woodruff Foundation. The slate for the evening -- Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. -- includes Jim Gaffigan, Ricky Gervais, and the Max Weinberg Big Band. Several of the current crop are regulars at the gala; Springsteen memorably played "The Rising" and then auctioned off the guitar (and a promise to sign and inscribe it) for $50,000 in 2008. Proceeds from the evening go to benefit injured veterans. This will be the fifth year for "Stand Up for Heroes." NYCF is produced by Carolines On Broadway and Comedy Central.
